Come daydream at the MIA. Dreams are a window to the imagination. And imagination is a key ingredient in creating art. Be inspired by paintings by Maxfield Parrish and Yves Tanguy, then create your own dreamscape. Hear silly and sweet bedtime stories told by Katie Knutson of Rippling Stories. Listen to dreamy harp music by Andrea Stern. Go on a hunt in the museum?s galleries to see how dreams, sleep, and imagination unlock artists? ideas. And stop by a dream interpretation booth and find out what your dreams mean--or interpret the dreams of others.

Dream of Eames? Nutty for Noguchi? Tonight's for you. Prep for the MIA's Design & Antiques Fair (Sept. 24-26 at the St. Paul Armory). Soak up 300 years of furniture design in the new exhibition "Chairevolution!" Drop in on a light and lively set of talks about furniture and antiques by the experts. Take in a cardboard furniture-making workshop and take home plans to make your own recycled pieces of livable sculpture. And check out the future of design in some YouTube videos that go from the practical to the preposterous.

Live music by The Idle Hands.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Martha Tedeschi will not be able to present her lecture "Masters of American Watercolor: Winslow Homer and John Marin" on Sunday, September 19.

In her place we are happy to welcome Mark Pascale, curator of prints and drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago, who will lecture on Jasper Johns.
